October is one of my favorite months because of all the fun fall activities it offers. There is just so much to do! You can do anything from pumpkin patching to going to haunted houses. It is also the last month of nice fall weather before it starts to get too cold. So in case you chose not to explore a lot of what is going on in Colorado, here are some of the best things to keep in mind around Boulder and Denver next October.
Best Haunted Houses
13th Floor (Denver)
One of the scariest haunted houses you will go to ! It has been nationally recognized for being one of the top haunted houses. I’ve been several times and it is one of the best haunted houses I’ve ever been to. There are so many pop-outs and scary noises. The haunted house is a series of rooms each themed around classic horror TV shows and movies.
City of the Dead (Mile High Flea Market)
Instead of a haunted house this is a haunted city filled with zombies. You are driven in and take a tour of the city. It is known as one of the top haunted houses in Denver. It features 30 uniquely themed graphic scenes, one of the new ones being featured is the Carnival of Carnage.
Best pumpkin patches to go to near Boulder
A cute farm right outside of Boulder, about a 10-15 minute drive. There are lots of pumpkins to choose from as well as a small corn maze to get lost in. For younger kids the farm has a straw bale maze and a little petting zoo. This is a great place to go to if you are trying to get some festive corn and pumpkins. They have lots of different kinds of pumpkins, big, small, green, red, orange, lumpy or smooth.
Like Cottonwood farm it is located right outside of Boulder and offers various activities besides having lots of pumpkins to buy. They have lots of heirloom pumpkins, I got some with my family last year that weighed 55 lbs! Munson farms also offers hay rides through the farm and a small corn maze as well. There are also lots of gourds to choose from.
Downtown Denver Zombie Crawl
One last activity that I find pretty fun is the Zombie Crawl located in Downtown Denver. You get to dress up and hangout on 16th St and if you go early there are makeup artists there that will do your zombie makeup for you. It is a great place to meet new people and buy cool things, as there will be vendors there as well. There is also a DJ that plays music for even more fun! There is a costume contest with prizes that you can win. Once all the zombies are in costume everyone performs to the song thriller by Michael Jackson. Everyone does a zombie crawl down 16th Street, then there are various after parties held at restaurants and clubs.
Make sure to get out there next October and really enjoy the month’s festivities!!
