The annual Designers Without Boundaries (DWB) BBQ was last week, and it was a blast! The catered barbecue was delicious! It filled the hallways with a sweet scent that drew everyone in. I love getting to meet all of the DWB board as well as other students from all different specializations and years of ENVD. And of course, free food is always great! DWB hosted a fun night of games and pictures! We played really competitive games such as one where we had to get oreos in our mouth without using our hands (we started with the oreo on our forehead – so we really learned who has strong face muscles.) There was heated competition during pictionary to see who could draw quickly and discovering hidden talents like who can read minds.
After our first week of school for the year, we enjoyed getting to hangout and relax a bit with friends whom we hadn’t seen all summer as well as new faces that we will be seeing around ENVD this year! As I have mentioned before, I love the community of students, faculty, and staff that ENVD fosters. It makes me feel like I am at home in ENVD because all of the people are so sweet and caring. DWB has Alea Richmond Akins to thank for this! Alea is the Advising Unit Manager at the Advising Center for Excellence that ENVD is so lucky to have. If you haven’t met with an advisor yet to get to know them, you definitely should! They are amazing and care so much about us as students. DWB students had an excellent time meeting back up on Thursday for this upcoming semester. DWB is under the Diverse Scholars
Program, and we have several events planned for the year including a service event with Extreme Community Makeover, tree planting, ice skating, and much more! If you are interested in joining, contact Alea at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I hope everyone had a great first week of school! Looking forward to catching up with all of you!
